Action for Healthy Kids State Teams
Active in every state and the District of Columbia, Action for Healthy Kids' 51 Teams have created an extensive national grassroots infrastructure through which we take action. In 2007, for example, Action for Healthy Kids Teams reached more than 71% of the nation's school districts - representing nearly 37 million K-12 students - with outreach, support, and information related to school wellness.

Body Works
BodyWorks is a program designed to help parents and caregivers of young adolescent girls (ages 9 to 13) improve family eating and activity habits. The BodyWorks program uses a train-the-trainer model to distribute the Toolkit through community-based organizations, state health agencies, non-profit organizations, health clinics, hospitals, and health care systems.

CDC Report: The Burden of Chronic Diseases and Their Risk Factors
A document that provides updated information on the prevalence of selected chronic diseases and their risk factors in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

CDC's State-Based Programs and Resources
The Nutrition and Physical Activity Program to Prevent Obesity and Other Chronic Diseases is designed to help states prevent obesity and other chronic diseases by addressing two closely related factors poor nutrition and inadequate physical activity.

CDC State Legislation Searchable Database
Allows users to search for state bills from 2001 to present related to nutrition and/or physical activity.

Data Resource Center for Child & Adolescent Health
Offers information specific to your state on a variety of policy issues impacting (and being impacted by) childhood obesity such as: overall prevalence rates compared with other states, disparities and variances by race, insurance, income level, what your state is doing at the legislative level to combat childhood obesity, and what schools in your state are doing to combat childhood obesity.

National Academy for State Health Policy
A non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to helping states achieve excellence in health policy and practice.

National Association of Counties (NACo): Healthy Counties Database
This is a tool where you can search for model policies, programs and initiatives that counties nationwide have enacted to promote wellness and help prevent childhood obesity. Find out what peer local government leaders have done to enable and encourage nutritious diets, physical activity, and healthy built and social environments.

National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)
A forum for advancing ideas in your home state, across other states, and on Capitol Hill, and for promoting information-sharing, one-on-one and collectively. This site includes comprehensive information, research on critical state issues, informative publications, meetings, and seminars.

National Governors Association (NGA)
The collective voice of the nation's governors and one of Washington, D.C.'s, most respected public policy organizations. NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that range from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues to developing policy reports on innovative state programs and hosting networking seminars for state government executive branch officials.

Shaping America’s Youth: Program Registry
The Program Registry includes information on intervention programs throughout the U.S. that are targeting physical activity and/or nutrition in young people. This database includes all the programs that have completed the Shaping America's Youth Survey since it was initiated in November 2003, and that requested that their program be included in this registry.

State Health Facts (Kaiser Family Foundation)
A project of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and is designed to provide free, up-to-date, and easy-to-use health data on all 50 states. Statehealthfacts.org provides data on more than 500 health topics and is linked to both the Kaiser Family Foundation Web site and KaiserNetwork.org.

Strategic Alliance: Environmental Nutrition and Activity Community Tool (ENACT)
ENACT is a concrete menu of strategies designed to help you improve nutrition and activity environments on a local level. These strategies have been organized into seven environments that were carefully selected for their importance in individual and community health. Each ENACT strategy presents useful information based on current research and practice and includes model policies and programs, hands-on tools, articles and other publications, and resources. The strategies are structured to be interactive so that implementation can become a reality.

Team Nutrtition: USDA Community Resource
Team Nutrition is an initiative of the USDA Food and Nutrition Service to support the Child Nutrition Programs through training and technical assistance for foodservice, nutrition education for children and their caregivers, and school and community support for healthy eating and physical activity.
